Utilizes Epic’s electronic health record and 3M’s Coding and Reimbursement system encoder. Identifies and codes diagnoses and procedures from information documented in the medical records according to ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 guidelines, including hospital modifications. Identifies principal diagnosis and procedure as well as pertinent secondary diagnoses and procedures. Follows sequencing and reporting procedures mandated by government and other payers for completion of coded data including DRG and APC assignments. Telecommuting is available based on meeting criteria.
Education: High School or Equivalent. Basic Coding Course.
Experience: MUST HAVE 1 Year of Inpatient Acute Care Hospital Coding
License: CCS or RHIT or RHIA, preferred.
